The Quick and Dirty Guide to Being an Intern Who Doesn’t Suck [ADVICE]

I’ve been meaning to write some career-related stuff for interns and new profs, and started this list hoping to expand on it. Then I realized, this is all I really need to say about it.

Don’t do an unpaid internship. If the company values interns, they will pay them. But don’t expect a high pay- even at minimum wage, just the fact you are doing work for pay sets you up as a someone of value, not just free help. [If not pay, at least receive college credit.]

Don’t decide on your internship based on the company name. If you work at a small company, you will likely have a lot more depth to your experience.
