I one day hope to be on this list.
Gawker just released its list of least-essential writers of the year. Things like this fill me with Glee. Sure, it’s the kind of negativity and gossip-y stuff that Gawker gets criticized for (but hey, they included themselves!), but for aspiring writers like myself this is like the Us Weekly of Internet journalism. It’s also a how-to of how to not behave, calling out self-importance and online temper tantrums. Newsflash to everyone: if you write for a public audience, criticism will happen. Embrace it. I’ve mentioned before, it’s a sign that people are actually reading your work.
