Wes Anderson Knows Slo-Mo

The Unwatchables

Wes Anderson movies are shot beautifully. They are cast almost perfectly. Wardrobes are as important to the film as any other element. Why can’t I connect with any of his films?

Anderson’s characters are complicated. They don’t live ordinary lives. Often, they seem to be from a time from before the film takes place. However, there’s always a third act that muddles everything for me. His characters become too unreachable. They become just a sum of their various quirks.

Regardless, I’m a sucker for slow-motion shots set to music.
